Flower Power Can Cozy

Yay for cozies!!!! Isn't it so cute? I love spring. I know, it has been spring for a while, but hey.. when you live in the upper Midwest, one takes all the warm weather one can get! Which is, roughly speaking, about 64 days out of the year. Blech. Why do I live here? Oh yeah, cuz there is lots of fun stuff to do here, and my kids love it. :)

Want a pattern?

OK!!!

But before we begin, a reminder that this is in a continuous round, so use a stitch marker. Personally, I use a bobby pin. :)

Using a 4.5mm hook and cotton yarn (Lily Sugar'n Cream is what I used),
1. Ch 2, sl st tog.
2. Ch 1, 5 sc in open space, **DO NOT JOIN** (6 sc)
3. (2 sc in every sc) around. (12 sc)
4. (2 sc in every sc) around. (24 sc)
5. (sc in every sc) around. (24 sc)
6. For this row, do a single crochet in only the back part. This forms a nice ridge, giving it more of a 90 degree angle sort of.
7-22. (sc in every sc) around, then sl st in first st (24 st)
Weave in loose ends.

FLOWER:

1. Ch 2, sl st tog.
2. Ch 1, 5 sc in open space, sl st to join (6 sc)
3. Ch 1, (2 sc in ever sc) around, (12 sc)
*To change colors, insert your hook like you would normally to do a slip stitch, but this time, grab your second color, and finish your slip stitch.
4. (Ch 3, skip 1 sc, sl st in next sc) around. (6 loops)
5. Into each loop: (sc, hdc, 2 dc, hdc, sc) around (6 petals)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Finish by sewing the petals of the leaves onto the can in whatever spot looks awesome to you. :)

However...
if you can't crochet, have the wrong yarn (but really, any worsted weight would work for this), or plain old don't feel like it, go here and buy one from MOI... in whatever colors you want!
