How to Make Copper Shiny Again

Being a crafter of raw, recycled metals, I tend to deal with a LOT of dull, gross copper that has lost it's life and shine. Now, that doesn't mean you have to stop wearing your ugly tarnished copper jewelry! It just means you gotta improvise with what you probably already have on hand in your kitchen to make it shiny again!

Ready for easiest tutorial in the history of tutorials? Ok, GO!

Photo: Science project time!

When you have dull pennies or other copper material and want it to be new and shiny again, follow these simple steps. The acid from the vinegar and salt solution dissolves the copper oxide that forms on copper because of its exposure to the elements.
1. Mix 4 parts distilled white vinegar to 1 part table salt. Stir until salt is dissolved.
2. Dip your dull copper into the solution and watch it eat away at all the copper oxide. It only takes a few seconds.
3. Rinse with plain water and wipe clean with a towel.
4. OOH LOOK SHINY!!1.
4. OOH LOOK SHINY!!

See? You can tell the difference just by looking at the (unedited!) photo. It takes SECONDS and will bring new life to your old, yucky copper pieces.

And who said science isn't fun?!?
